Hello. My name is Ruth and I am a BACP Accredited Therapist. From my practices in South Manchester, I offer face-to-face, online and telephone sessions.

With a strong grounding in Person-Centred Counselling, I use an integrative approach, tailoring our sessions to best suit you and your needs.

I also have extra training in Compassion Focussed Therapy and Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness.

EXPERIENCE

I have 10 years experience working in the NHS, providing holistic support to patients, families and NHS staff.

Additionally, I have worked as a counsellor for Macmillan Cancer for 5 years, supporting individuals dealing with bereavement. I also work with people facing diagnosis, going through treatment and living with and beyond cancer.

Prior to this, I worked in the charity sector for 15 years, managing and delivering helplines to those in need of emotional support.

COUNSELLING
HOW COUNSELLING CAN HELP

If you’re thinking about counselling, it’s possible you’re feeling unhappy, stressed, anxious or depressed. Maybe you’re even feeling overwhelmed or burnt out. You might be hanging on to difficult experiences from the past or struggling with making the changes you want for the future. Counselling can offer you an opportunity to explore your feelings and find a way through to increased self-awareness and a more fulfilled life.

"For counselling to be successful, the most important thing is that there is a trusting, therapeutic bond between client and counsellor"

I bring to my practice a calm and genuine warmth and will listen to your feelings in a non-judgemental way. I'll respond to your needs with compassion, respect and empathy, and will use a holistic approach to help you work through your current difficulties to better understand yourself.

I will offer you a safe and confidential space to share your thoughts and feelings. Working together, we will find a way through the problems you’re currently facing and build resilience to tackle life’s future challenges.

Testimonials
‘Ruth provides a safe space where I can sit with my feelings and worries. I never thought I would be able to, or would want to, fully open up in counselling but she is warm, compassionate and genuinely cares. She has always made me feel comfortable enough to share the unfiltered version of what I am going through and I am very grateful for our sessions’.
